Very slow moving showers and thunderstorms will move into our area overnight and Sunday. The potential for flooding will be heightened in southern and eastern Kentucky.
ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police say David Isaacs, the McKee man involved in an ATV accident had life threatening injuries.
The accident happened late Thursday night on Happy Top Road. That is located in the Daniel Boone National Forest on the Estill/Jackson County line.
"Estill County has a lot of remote areas. We have areas in the county that are only accessible by four-wheel-drive," said Jimmy Wise, with Estill County EMS.
Wise says Happy Top Road is one of those roads.
If they don't bring their own ATV, paramedics with the Estill County EMS will ride up on other ATVs to the victim.
Wise says he would rather go over rider safety tips before something like this happens, but with more riders on the trails in the warmer months, safety is as important as ever.
Wise said, "We want to make sure that you're aware of your surroundings, that you know where you're at. Because it's very important if something were to happen or you were to get in trouble, that you're able to guide rescue, fire, EMS, responders to that area to assist you."
A medical helicopter could not land in the area where he was found, because of the dense woods. He had to be loaded into an ambulance and driven to meet the helicopter in another location. He was then airlifted to UK Hospital.
Police did not release details about how the accident happened.
Isaacs is listed in serious condition at last check at UK Hospital.
