Man jailed in Jessamine County for brutal New Year's Eve beating

JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is in jail charged with a brutal New Year's Eve beating.

Investigators say Curtis Flora hit James Wallace in the head multiple times Monday night after the pair got into an argument while driving down Vince Road in Jessamine County.

Flora told WKYT the fight started when Wallace made a remark involving his son. "We was going down Vince Road, he told my son, my nine year old son, that he was gonna kill me and he didn't say molest, but he said in another way, violate me or my son and I lost it," notes Flora. "I got him a 44 ounce polar pop of ice water and some paper towels. It seemed like he was fine. He was bleeding a little bit on his head, a little bit on his mouth."

We're told Flora then took Wallace to Silverleaf Drive in Lexington.

"I just hope he's alright and I apologize. It should have never happened. I think it was just more me protecting my son than it was out of danger or anything," remarks Flora.

Emergency crews rushed Wallace to UK Hospital with life threatening injuries. He remains there in critical condition.

Curtis Flora is lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center with no bond.
