Man jumped, shot during Lexington robbery

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot during an robbery.

Lexington police say it happened just before midnight on Wednesday, outside the Saddlebrook Apartments on Tates Creek Road.

That's where police say a man was jumped in the parking lot by at least two people. Police say the victim fought back before being shot in the leg.

"I feel like I live in a very safe neighborhood. There's never been any crime at this apartment complex, and at about 11:50 we heard BOOM," said a witness.

The woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, went to a window to see what the noise was. She noticed two men and a woman standing near a dumpster where she believes the noise came from in the apartment parking lot.

"I thought they were young kids playing with fireworks. I thought, nobody got shot, it was just fireworks," said the witness.

The victim was taken to UK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say he was not able to provide a good description of the suspects. So far, no arrests have been made.
