Man killed, child injured in Rockcastle Co. crash

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Interstate 75 in southern Kentucky opened back up on Friday afternoon after an early morning, deadly crash.

The crash happened just after 8:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Exit 58 in Rockcastle County.

Drivers heading south, either to Atlanta for the SEC tournament, Bristol NASCAR Race, Gatlinburg, or wherever were taken off the interstate and put on US-25 while crews cleaned up the accident scene.

Police say that a family from McDougal, Ontario was headed to Atlanta for an ATV event when something caused them to run off the road and crash into a rock wall.

Police say the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Police have identified the victim as 58 year old Paul Bushy.

His wife was taken to a local hospital for non life threatening injuries.

Their granddaughter, 17 year old Gabriel Hickey, was airlifted to UK hospital.

Initial reports were that a tractor trailer was involved, but that was a driver who simply stopped to help the victims.
