Man killed in fire in Lincoln County

Updated: Fri 8:51 PM, Dec 14, 2012

CRAB ORCHARD, KY (WKYT) - About all that’s left of Teddy Lee Day’s home are the memories his family says where shared here….many of which were with his granddaughters.

“We’d always go up there and drink coffee with him. He’d have it ready for us. Always look forward to it,” Samantha Hicks said her voice shaking in recalling wonderful memories of her grandfather.

The 61 year old man was found dead after fire consumed his home. Day’s beloved dog, Pepper, was found right at his master’s side.

“He talked to Pepper..told Pepper everything. They were like best friends,” said Hicks.

Investigators with KSP and the Ky Fire Marshal spent much of the day there, looking for the cause. At this point they don’t think it was anything suspicious.

Firefighters were called to the home just after 2 o’clock Friday morning.

“My brother came in and woke us up. At first I thought he was joking, then I saw the fire coming out of the trailer. Didn’t seem real at all,” said Sarah Hicks.

“He was a very good person. He would help anybody,” said grandaughter Sarah Blakey.
