Man leads Lexington police on short chase involving stolen vehicle

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is in jail after police say he stole a vehicle and led police on a short chase.

Lexington police say they responded to a call for a stolen vehicle around 4:30 Saturday morning. Shortly after the call went out another officer spotted the vehicle in line at drive-thru of Hardees on New Circle Road.

The officer pulled up behind the stolen vehicle who fled from the drive-thru, leading police on a brief chase down Broadway. Police say the driver, Jarrell Wilkerson, 28, threw narcotics out the window of the vehicle before stopping at Broadway and Loudon.

Police arrested Wilkerson on an outstanding warrant. They say they were able to recover the narcotics thrown from the vehicle.

Wilkerson is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center and is charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Trafficking in Controlled Substance in addition to his outstanding warrants.
