A Danville man said he'd just sat down for some late night entertainment when a bullet he expected to see on his TV flew through his apartment.

Clifford Napier wanted to unwind with some video games, but as he was getting things ready, he was startled.

"All of a sudden, I heard this loud pop and a piece of drywall or something hit me in the head," he said.

That's when he looked at the wall and noticed a gouge sliced through it only feet from where he was sitting.

"I said, 'That looks like a gunshot!'," he said.

Danville Police said his neighbor, Lee Muller, was showing a friend how to use a gun in the next apartment over when it fired. Police arrested him and charged him with wanton endangerment. They said he failed to check to see if there was a bullet in the chamber, but Muller's wife disagreed.

"It was a total accident because there was a bullet lodged that he could not see. He was clearing it and it was strictly accidental. It scared him as much as it scared everyone else," said Diana Muller.

Police said Muller was treated for a minor injury to his hand. They said they believed alcohol could have contributed to the accident, but again, Muller's wife said no way.

"No alcohol...nothing. He had had nothing to drink," she said.

Napier says he also believes it was an accident.

"I don't think there's any malice or anything, I think it was purely an accidental thing," he said.

Police say another woman in the apartment was arrested on an unrelated charge.
