Man suffering from serious injuries after crashing into delivery truck

Updated: Tue 11:44 PM, Aug 21, 2012

It left a man fighting for his life, and shut down a busy road for hours. WKYT has learned new details about a violent crash between a moped and a UPS truck.

Lexington police say the moped slammed into the back of the truck along North Broadway.

Right as rush hour began on North Broadway Tuesday afternoon, police say Dorian Webb ran into the back of a UPS driver's delivery truck.

"I don't think weather was a factor. This happened right before the rain, so I don't think weather was a factor in this," explained Lexington Police Officer Scott Lynch.

Officer Lynch says Webb wasn't wearing a helmet. He's currently in serious condition at UK Hospital.

"It scared me because I know somebody got hurt bad," said Sheri Insko, who lives on North Broadway, "you have to watch because some people just fly up in here. They're not going 45 or 50 they're going faster than that sometimes."

Police closed a section of North Broadway for several hours. They still aren't sure what caused the wreck.

"Either it was a distraction or an impairment I believe," said Officer Lynch.
