LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man wanted in connection to the disappearance of a Lexington man is now in police custody in Texas.
Police in Pharr, Texas tell us they arrested Robert Markham Taylor on Wednesday at a hotel just a few miles from the Mexican border. They say they got a tip from Lexington Police that he was in the area.
Taylor is charged with murder, kidnapping, and tampering with physical evidence in the disappearance of Alex Johnson.
Johnson went missing December 20. His family says they haven't heard from him since that night.
Taylor is also charged with possession of marijuana. Pharr Police tell us when they arrested him he had several pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.
A second man, Timothy Ballard, is already in custody in Fayette County on charges of kidnapping and tampering with physical evidence.
Police haven't found Johnson's body.
A private detective hired by Johnson's family said they are choosing not to comment on the arrest, as they are focused on finding Alex.
Taylor is being held in the Hidalgo County, Texas detention center. A hearing will be scheduled to discuss extradition back to Lexington.
