Man charged with murder in fatal crash

William Kazee remembers his sister as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

"She was just a super nice lady, she did everything she could to help anybody," he said.

In fact, he says 54-year-old Malinda Kazee was on her way to do just that, back on April 29.

"She was on her way to take a friend to the doctor," said William.

That's when police say a car driven by 44-year-old David Lester veered in to her lane on U.S. 460 between Mount Sterling and Camargo.

"She just couldn't get out of the way," said William.

Malinda, who was alone in the car, was killed in the crash.

Now the Montgomery County Grand Jury has indicted Lester for murder and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

"Sure if I seen him I might be angry, but I do feel sorry for him and I know he's got a rough road ahead of him," said William about the indictment.

William says it's been rough losing the last member of his immediate family, but says he knows how his sister would feel in his shoes.

"If she was around today and it had happened to me instead, I know she'd be angry but she's a real forgiving person, too," said William. "everybody loved her and she loved everybody."

Jail officials say Lester was recently transferred from the Montgomery County Jail to Lagrange because of the leg injuries he suffered in the crash. His arraignment is scheduled for July 24.
