Man escapes serious injury when tree falls on car

Updated: Thu 8:11 PM, Jul 19, 2012

Brandon Kitchen was on his way to lunch when a tree nearly put a stop to everything he had planned for Thursday.

"The next thing I know I've got a tree coming into my windshield," he said, standing next to a downed tree...and major damage to his car on Delong Rd. In Lexington.

The 75 ft. tall tree may have dry rotted..and made weak by Wednesday's high winds.

He soon realized he was hurt.

"My first reaction, I saw blood on my hands, so I called 911. A lady came over. People stopped," said Kitchen, who was on his way to lunch when the tree came down.

Kitchen was treated at the scene and before long was back to his otherwise normal routine, while the tree was quickly cut up and taken away.
