Maryland man charged with stalking Richmond teen

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - On Monday, Richmond Police charged a Maryland man for several offenses relating to improper contact with an underage female.

Back in November of last year, police say they got a complaint from the parents of a 13-year old girl. Upon investigation, police determined that since January of 2013, a man in Maryland had been communicating with the girl through Facebook, claiming to be 16-years old. However, police say the man, who they identified as Andrew Parrish of Manchester, Maryland, was actually 21.

According to Richmond Police, Parrish was also using his cell phone to send nude photographs of himself to the girl and also tried to get her to send nude photos to him.

In May 2013, Parrish came from his home in Maryland to visit the girl. Her family then found out he was an adult. The girl's parents told Parrish to have no further contact with their daughter. However, the family says Parrish continued to have contact with the minor at various events, and hacked into her Facebook account to monitor her activities. When the girl resisted his attempts, police say Parrish threatened to cause serious physical injury or death to her and her family.

In November of 2013, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Parrish charging him for Stalking 2nd Degree, Prohibited Use of Electronic Communications System to Procure a Minor to Commit a Sexual Offense, and Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 3rd Degree.

It wasn't until March of 2014, that police in Maryland arrested Parrish. He is now in the Madison County Detention Center.
