Massive Northeast blizzard affects travelers in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY (WKYT) -- Air travelers across the nation are facing a frustrating weekend, as hundreds of airports have canceled over 4,500 flights prior to the arrival of Winter Storm Nemo.

The Blue Grass Airport was not unaffected, as the flight that was scheduled to depart for New York City this morning was canceled. But, as WKYT's Kari Hall reported, the airport was otherwise fairly quiet, and travel remained uninterrupted.

In Covington, however, it's a different story. Many of the flights at that airport are arriving from or departing to Boston or LaGuardia Airport in New York. Kari Hall spoke with one traveler who is glad that she is avoiding this historic snowstorm.

"In two weeks I'm heading to Rochester," said Megan Lineberry. "My audition is coming up. My mom was like, 'I'm so glad you chose Florida this week and not Rochester.'"

It may be several days before any flights come in from or leave for the northeast, so travelers will have to find alternate plans.
