Law enforcement worked fast Wednesday night to take apart two active meth labs found right across the street from a nursing home.

Madison County sheriff's deputies received an anonymous tip that 36-year-old Mark Hawley was making meth at his home on North Richmond Road in Berea. Deputy Willard Reardon says deputies visited Hawley's home.

"They just go up, knock on the door, asked a few questions to see what was up. Fortunately this time when they knocked on the door, guy opens up the door and they obviously could see evidence of a meth lab," explained Deputy Reardon. He says they found two active meth labs inside the home.

"They found chemicals there that was mixed, ready for product. On a street it'd probably be about $10,000. It would make about a half a pound of meth."

Deputies wanted to shut down the meth lab fast, mainly because of the people living right across the street, at a nursing home.

"Obviously there's a lot of senior folks in there and we're very concerned about their safety," said Deputy Reardon.

Hawley is in now in jail, charged with making meth.
