Meth lab leads to motel evacuation in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Several people are in jail, after police discover an active meth lab inside a hotel room.

Lexington police say they were tipped off about an odd odor coming from a room at the Catalina Motel, on the city's north side. When police arrived, they found four people inside, cooking meth.

Police evacuated an entire wing of the motel. The Lexington Fire Department was called in with their mobile decontamination unit. The four people inside the motel were checked out by EMS and then taken to jail.

Officials say no first responders were exposed the harmful chemicals.

Police say they are not yet releasing the names of those arrested, pending further investigation.
