Middle school student in trouble for bringing toy gun to school

RICHMOND, Ky (WKYT) - A student at one central Kentucky middle school is in hot water, after bringing a toy gun to school.

School officials say they took immediate action after reports of a weapon at the B. Michael Caudill Middle School in Madison County. A short time later officials discovered the gun was simply a toy, but they say they are still taking this incident seriously.

A letter was sent home with students to explain the situation to any concerned parents, as well as remind them to encourage kids not to bring potentially dangerous items to school.

Officials say the student will face appropriate disciplinary consequences.

In a press release, officials with Madison county schools warn "even a toy gun is never allowed on campus."
