Midway College announces new president

MIDWAY, Ky. (AP) - Midway College's board of trustees has chosen John P. Marsden as its new president.

The school announced the selection Wednesday of Marsden, who is provost and vice president of academic affairs at Barton College in Wilson, N.C. He will assume the new post on Feb. 1.

Marsden was one of three finalists who visited Midway in October. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and has a master's from the University of Arizona and doctorate from the University of Michigan. He is also author or co-author of four books on dementia, assisted living and evidence-based design.

Marsden will be the school's 10th president, succeeding William B. Drake Jr., who announced his resignation last March. Robert L. Vogel has served as interim president.
