Rounds of showers and thunderstorms could cause issues across the region Saturday. Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible.
Don't let Sunday's temperatures fool you.... it's about to get extremely cold again! Another big push of Arctic air will arrive during the daytime hours on Monday. We'll start off above freezing and end up in the single digits by the time we get into the evening hours.
Our current low for early Tuesday morning is -10. From Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning we could see a temperature swing of roughly 60 degrees. This cold means business!
Some of the wind chill readings during that time could push -20 to -30 in many areas. This puts us on par with the first true blast of cold air we saw a few weeks back. The big difference would be the -10 actual air temp.
During the transition we'll see some some snow shower activity pick up. Accumulations won't be impressive at all. Most areas could see up to a half inch. The higher elevations of eastern Kentucky might be closer to the one inch mark.
This cold will hang around through the middle of the week. Another break comes toward the end of the week.
