DEFEATED CREEK, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT)- UPDATE: A man missing since early Friday morning has been found.

Adam Smith, 26, was found alive Saturday morning in Letcher County.

We will have more on this story on Mountain News at Six and we will continue to update the web as new information becomes available.

Adam Smith, 26, left his house on a four wheeler around three a.m. Friday and has not returned.

"It's just very nerve racking," his wife, Heather Smith said. "I didn't sleep much. They were out looking for him but I was with the baby and had to get up this morning and go to work. I didn't realize he wasn't home until this morning when I got back from work."

Smith lives in the Defeated Creek community of Letcher County, an area targeted by search parties on Friday.

Paul Miles, Letcher County's Emergency Management leader was in charge of the crews.

"Some of them are in teams of two on side by sides," he explained, "some are on individual four-wheelers."

Volunteers found an ATV and a gun, but are not sure if they belong to Smith.

"I've cried so much today i just don;t know if i could cry any more," Heather Smith said. "So many things run through your head but you always think the worst before you think the best. You try to prepare yourself for the worst because you never know."

The people conducting the search say they really have no idea where to look.

"It's not necessarily the rough terrain that concerns us, it's the fact that we really don't have anywhere to search." Miles said. "We have no last point of known location."

A fact that concerns Heather Smith and her family.

"I love him very much and I hope he's found...just for me and his little boy."

Hoping the trail Smith took leads back home.
Crews have found the ATV of a man who went missing early this morning.

Family members of 26-year-old Adam Smith say he took off on a four wheeler around 3:00 AM and has not returned. Around 20 volunteers are searching in the Defeated Creek community where Smith lives.
Police tell us they also found a gun near the ATV, but are still searching for Smith.

If you have any information on Smith's whereabouts call the State Police Post in Hazard at 606-435-6069.
