CASEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- Friends and family are remembering a Kentucky native, killed while doing some missionary work overseas.

Family members say John Lello, who's originally from Casey County was working in Papua New Guinea, which is north of Australia.

He was helping some of the natives build a mission house when a branch fell on him, killing him.

Lello's brother-in-law, who lives in Maine, says his impact will be felt for some time.

"John's life was only shortly lived in the mission field it's my prayer and belief that many others will be touched and affected and live their lives in another way," said Kerry Simpson.

Multiple memorial services have been planned for Lello. We're told he'll be buried in Casey County later this month.
