Mom: Daughter 'lucky to be alive' after tree smashes SUV

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Scary moments for a Laurel County mother and her two daughters after powerful winds cause a large tree to smash onto their car, crushing it.

The uprooted tree along the edge of Highway 363 only tells a fraction of the story as to how it got there and who it put in harm's way.

Kerri Greene and her two daughters were only a few minutes from their home when, in the blink of an eye, the weather and their circumstances took a turn for the worse.

"All the sudden we just hear this big boom, a crash. My daughter kind of came up close to me and the whole front of the car just rolled up on her," said Kerri Greene, who was driving at the time.

"The whole ceiling was on my leg and I thought oh my gosh I'm losing my leg," said Kerri's daughter, Megan.

Thankfully Kerri was able to get out of the car and gather help.

Finally, after more than an hour of cutting Megan out of the car, she was able to get out of the car and walk around without a problem.

The fact that Kerri and her two daughters walked away from the wreck practically unscathed, has Kerri believing that this incident was nothing short of miraculous.

Kerri Greene says the SUV she was driving during the time of the wreck was totaled by the tree.
