FORT KNOX, Ky. (AP) - More funding is being sought to restore the last World War II barrack at Fort Knox.
Retired Col. Mike Weaver, a former state lawmaker who lived in one of the barracks during his basic training at Fort Knox in 1961, is in charge of the project, which will be part of the General George Patton Museum of Leadership.
The News-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/SA20vN ) reports Weaver asked the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau and the Joint Executive Council of Veterans Organizations to help fund the project. He noted that he has already raised $50,000 and the project will have a regional impact.
The organizations sent the request to committees to review.
