More than 2,500 still without power across central and northern KY

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - It's just the beginning of the winter season, but several people in central and northern Kentucky counties are already wishing for the end with power outages for days.

Some parts of Scott County got up to eight inches of snow which is weighing down the power lines.

Mark Lanham who lives in Scott County is one of the lucky ones because he has a generator. But nearly 400 people in Scott County, more than 1,000 in Harrison County, and another 400 in Pendleton County aren't as fortunate.

"There ain't no way I'd go without a generator out here. You got to have one if you live out. It's a necessity!" said Lanham.

Pendleton County had a warming shelter set up for more than a day, and over in Harrison County, crews have been working nonstop to get power back.

"It's tough. I'm sure they're doing what they can though," said Lanham.

Over in Scott County, especially on back roads like Bailey Road, they've experienced this much snow before but not the black out to go along with it.

"Not like this, no. Maybe for an hour or two but not real long," said Lanham.

"Although this snow hasn't even left from the snowstorm we had a couple days ago, we are expecting to get more just in time for the new year.

Blue Grass Energy continues to update their outage numbers, and as of Sunday night, they are showing more than 2,600 are without power across central and northern Kentucky.
