The first day of May couldn't be much better. Our highs this afternoon will climb to 80° with mostly sunny skies. With the warm temperatures and a few clouds around we could see an isolated chance of rain for the area. We hold on to the warm weather for tomorrow and Friday with highs in the mid 70s as we continue to see a very slight chance of rain for both of the days. For Oaks Day in Louisville you can expect a better chance of rain, but not a washout.
Going into the weekend we are looking for that cut-off low to slowly move eastbound, which will give us better chances of rain. The best chance of rain for the Derby will be on Saturday, but let me just say that this system we have been watching for a week now has slowed down and stayed west on each and every model run. Lets hope it stays that way. I can tell you one thing...Don't bet on the weather for the Kentucky Derby. Cooler air filters in here toward the later part of the weekend and early part of next week.
