Morehead jewelry store burglarized, thieves entered through roof

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WKYT) - Thieves cut their way into a jewelry store in Morehead over the weekend and stole thousands of dollars worth of inventory. Caskey's Jewelry is closed while the investigation and repairs are going on.

Owner Cindy Caskey-Moore says their janitor noticed the break-in early Sunday morning.

"When I came to the store, the alarm system had been cut, the jewelry had been pulled out of the showcases, displays thrown on the floor, completely cleaned out," explained Caskey-Moore.

Police say thieves cut a hole in the store's roof. They climbed down, stole inventory, and walked out the back.

The jewelry store is connected to a gun and pawn shop. Workers believe no guns were taken and that thieves only focused on gold and silver inside the jewelry store.

"Thirty-five years of time, blood, sweat, and tears gone," Caskey-Moore said.
