'Most Wanted' arrested in arson case

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - One of Lexington's Most Wanted is now behind bars.

Paul Alexander Leach turned himself in at the Fayette County Detention Center late Wednesday night. He's charged with burglary, arson, criminal mischief and assault.

According to court documents, Leach broke into his ex-girlfriend's home on Radcliffe Road back on March 14th. The documents state that Leach kicked in the door of the home, destroying the screen. The victim told police that she tried to convince Leach to leave, but instead he assaulted her and the fight spilled outside the home. She told police that she went back inside to get a knife and call for help. At that point, police say Leach left the scene in a black Honda passenger car.

Three hours later, someone living on Radcliffe Road called 911 to say they saw a car outside the victim's home on fire. That witness says she saw a black Honda parked in front of her driveway, that sped away as she came out. Several other witnesses saw the same black car at the time of the fire.

On Wednesday, WKYT featured Leach in our "Most Wanted" segment with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. We went with deputies as they searched for Leach. That story aired Wednesday on WKYT's News at 5:30. Leach was taken into custody at the jail at 7:15 Wednesday night.

According to court documents, Leach and the victim had been in a relationship for 15 years, but broke up about a month before the incident.

He is due in court on Thursday afternoon.
