LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Fayette County Sheriff's Office said a man was shot in the back and robbed after the man tried to help the shooter out. The shooting happened a couple of weeks ago.
A guy who claimed his name was "Mike" knocked on the victim's door at 6 a-m, saying he needed help because someone was trying to rob him. The victim let "Mike" in and told him he could stay at his house for the night. Police reports show when the victim turned around to go back to bed, the man known as "Mike" shot him in the back, stole his wallet and left.
A police investigation into the case led them to "Mike's" real identity. Police said he is 19-year-old William Ellison. Police said he was later identified by the victim in a photo line-up.
WKYT went with sheriff's deputies to Ellison's last known address. He wasn't there at the time, but the person that answered the door said he's usually home.
Police say Ellison also goes by the street name "Sinatra" because raps and sells music Cd's.
Ellison is wanted on a first degree assault warrant. If you've seen William Ellison, call the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
