Mother of missing woman confident mystery could be solved soon

LEBANON, Ky (WKYT) - It’s been a difficult two years for Kara Tingle Rigdon’s family. Especially for her children.

“Austin goes up to the altar every Sunday..and prays for the return of his mother,” said Sheila Tingle, Kara’s mother. Tingle-Rigdon was last seen near her Bradfordsville home in July of 2010.

And for Tingle….the questions never seem to cease. Yet ….she believes there could be new reasons to believe an answer could be right around the corner.

“Every day I go….I’m one day closer to finding out the truth,” Tingle said Tuesday.

Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation. ..but DNA testing is slow. Leads come in all the time and it’s hardly a cold case.

Police have arrested Kara’s estranged husband, William Robert “Bobby” Rigdon, several times since she vanished. He was charged in 2010 for possession of a forged instrument…and more recently in May on felony drug, terroristic threatening….and wanton endangerment charges.

Tingle says all of this has been especially troubling for her grandchildren.

“You’re asked..’where is my Mommy?’ And you say, ‘they are looking for her.’ After 2 years…’they’re looking for her’ is not enough."

She says the lead detective talks to her at least once a week.

“Getting someone to say what happened, and where she is is an entirely different story,” Tingle said.

Tingle says she knows Kara didn’t leave on her own….because she knows her daughter would never have left her own children.
