Mother pleads not guilty to leaving children alone

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A woman accused of leaving 19 children alone in a hot, filthy home near Bowling Green for a week has entered a not guilty plea.

The Daily News reports 32-year-old Jackie Evelyn Farah appeared Tuesday before Warren County Circuit Court Judge John R. Grise. She is facing 14 counts of criminal abuse and five counts of wanton endangerment.

Officers found the children, who range in age from 7 months old to 16 years old, after getting a call from neighbor. Police say the home had no air conditioning and one room had an inch of animal feces on the floor.

Prosecutor Chris Cohron said Farah will be represented by the public defender's office.

Meanwhile, officers are still searching for another suspect in the case.
