MONTICELLO, Ky. (WKYT) - Payton and Taylor Keith had just taken their evening baths and were on the couch when gunfire interrupted the usual and otherwise peaceful nighttime routine of the 4 and 6 year olds.
“Sitting on the couch painting finger nails and toenails when something shattered a picture frame. It sounded like a rock,” said their mother, Jessica Dobbs.
The next thing Dobbs knew, she saw a bullet hole just above where her daughter, Taylor was sitting.
“Oh, very close, it was like 6 or 7 inches above mine and my child’s heads,” she said.
Another bullet went through the room where Dylan Hammons was playing video games..leaving this mother to question whether her children are safe…inside their own house.
“I’m scared to death. I just hope they get whoever did it. I’m scared to let them in the house,” she said.
Police believe the shots came from a gun as a car was driving down Sally Burnett Road near Monticello.
“We have no idea. I don’t know who would do something like this….I hope someone isn’t out to kill us,” she said.
