Murder victim's family hopes for arrests five years later

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- For the last five years, Jennifer Horn says she's been waiting for answers.

"It was devastating," she explained as she sat looking at her father's pictures.

On May 12th of 2008 her father, 48-year-old Ricky Horn, was found dead in his Smyth Lane home in Ravenna. Police say he was shot once in the back of the head, but no arrests have ever been made.

"I have a feeling it was someone he knew, someone he trusted," Horn said while describing the crime scene as she remembered it.

"To know that someone would do that to him and someone knows--and that there's no one talking about it. I wish they would give us that closure."

Kentucky State Police investigators say the case has gone cold. With no new leads, Horn hopes someone can offer even the tiniest clue so she and her family can get their lives back.

"You pass someone on the road and you're thinking--'do you know anything about this?' You look at everyone around you that you thought we're friends and you can't look at anyone the same way."

While she waits, Horn and her family have nothing more than pleasant memories of watching UK basketball games with a man she says would do anything for anyone. She can only hold out hope that someone will help make this the last anniversary without answers.

"Five years is a long time. I just don't want to go the rest of my life not knowing."

Kentucky State Police investigators are asking folks to call Crimestoppers at 859-253-2020. It is a free call and it is anonymous. They also say folks with information leading to an arrest in the case could be eligible for a cash reward.
