NJ mayor accepts Twitter food stamp challenge

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Newark Mayor Cory Booker says he plans to honor a Twitter challenge and live on food stamps for at least a week.

In a Twitter exchange Sunday, Booker and a user named TwitWit discussed government funding for school meals. Booker suggested they both try living on food stamps for a week or month.

Booker said Tuesday he is setting up the rules. He must figure out how much they can spend on food and how long the challenge will last.

TwitWit says she is willing to move forward but wants to know the ground rules first. She also wants to help set up the guidelines.

She thinks she and Booker should try to live on the equivalent of food stamps for a month.
