HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) - The president of Northern Kentucky University says he fired the school's athletic director because of improper relationships with four female employees and a student.
Geoff Mearns told the Board of Regents on Friday that the student was in one of Scott Eaton's classes, and two of the four employees were under his direct supervision.
The Kentucky Enquirer reports Mearns also told the board that Eaton lied when NKU started an investigation into the allegations. Eaton was fired last month.
Mearns says the investigation continues, including a review of the athletic department's finances.
Eaton headed NKU's sports programs since mid-2009 and worked as an administrator at the Highland Heights school since 1998.
He had supervised NKU's expansion this year into Division I athletics, including launching a $6 million fundraising campaign.
