"Why would you do this, you know?" That's the question running through Bobby Martin's head. He has lived in the home across the street from Lori Hall virtually all of Hall's life and is a close friend of her mother, Ruth.
Police say the violence started unfolding at Hall's Sipple street home after four on Tuesday afternoon.
Martin heard a shot and saw Hall falling to the ground from his front porch. He says he saw Hall's ex-boyfriend, Randy Derrickson, speed away.
"I can't put it into words," Martin said with tears in his eyes. "It's terrible. It's like one of our own children. I hope she's alright."
Police say after shooting Hall in the head, Derrickson shot Hall's new boyfriend's neighbor on Karin Drive. They say Rhonda Rogers was shot twice in the head and died. Officers say she had a baseball bat in her hands, and told Derrickson to leave the area. They say he'd caused problems there before.
Officers say after shooting Rogers, Derrickson returned to Sipple Street where he turned the gun on himself. Derrickson and Hall were both rushed to the hospital.
"Very, very scary, Regina Centers said. She's live on Sipple Street for decades and witnessed Derrickson shooting himself. "I've never seen anyone get shot. It's a very quiet street, usually."
Other neighbors, like Martin, are still hoping for more answers from police. Wondering what made Derrickson snap.
"He lived next door. Never would have thought he'd do something like that. He was a good neighbor to us."
Hall and Derrickson were taken to the hospital with critical and life-threatening injuries. Right now, officials are not releasing any information on their conditions.
