Neighbors evacuated after man threatened to set house on fire

Posted: Mon 11:42 PM, Jul 09, 2012

Some tense moments in a central Kentucky neighborhood caused some people to be evacuated.

Around 7:30 p.m. Monday night, Georgetown police say they got a call about an argument between a man and woman at a home on Copperfield Lane.

Police say the woman told them she ran off after the man threatened her, then poured gasoline around the house.

Police say the man then barricaded himself. They also say he was armed with a couple of knives.

They evacuated people living in nearby homes as a precaution.

Police say they eventually talked the man into surrendering peacefully. We're told they're now evaluating his mental state.
