Updated: Wed 1:10 PM, Oct 03, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A renewable chemical company, Allylix, has announced it is expanding into the Bluegrass.

The company, which makes an array of products, says it will add fourteen jobs and invest more than $1.6 million into the Commonwealth.

Governor Beshear, Mayor Jim Gray and other state and local leaders were on hand for the announcement. The company will expand into the University of Kentucky's Coldstream Research Campus. "The company will add 3,700 square feet, fourteen new jobs and millions. This is a good day in the Bluegrass," explains Lexington Mayor Jim Gray.

Allylix develops products for the flavor and fragrance, food ingredient, cosmetic chemicals, insect repellent and biofuel markets.

The company plans to continue working with the University of Kentucky's research department to expand their product. "This can lead to major things in the future for Lexington," explains Mayor Gray. "Today, it's fourteen new jobs, but who knows what will happen in two year. There is a lot of potential for growth with this company and that is what we are excited about."
