LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - More firefighters will move to the front lines as the latest class of recruits graduates from fire training school Friday in Lexington.
This is the first class of recruits to graduate since city leaders announced action to curb brownouts, when fire stations or equipment is temporarily taken out of service.
These recruits spent less time training so current firefighters would be able to spend more time on the job.
There are 23 recruits in this class. Among them, Nastassia Alcius.
Alcius is a former UK basketball player and she is the only woman in Friday's graduating class.
She last played for UK in 2007.
