LONDON, Ky. (WKYT) - More than 600 new jobs are coming to Laurel County this fall.
Serco announced it will open a data processing center in London and will bring 638 jobs to London. The center plans to be operational by October.
"We are so honored and pleased to welcome Serco to our family of industries in Laurel County," said Charles Pennington, Executive Director of the London-Laurel County Industrial Development Authority.
"Our location, work force and infrastructure contributed to the selection of Laurel County for this new project."
Pennington says the jobs will benefit surrounding communities as applicants from outside Laurel County are hired.
"They like to live where they were raised and when the job is over they go back home," he said. "They'll drive 50 miles one way for a job."
Serco will be accepting applications online at http://jobs.serco-na.com/kentucky-jobs.
Earlier this month General Dynamics Information Technology announced it was bringing 1000 new jobs to Laurel County.
