PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The University of Pikeville has dedicated a new facility for the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The Appalachian News-Express (http://bit.ly/UcBs5u) reports that educators, politicians and philanthropists joined hundreds of others Saturday who gathered to dedicate The Coal Building. The university says the $40 million facility is named to recognize an industry that has given significant support to it for years.
University President Paul Patton said the building will do more than change the skyline in Pikeville - it will improve health care in central Appalachia.
