NICHOLAS CO, Ky. (WKYT) - On Saturday, a small community laid to rest the third victim of a deadly Nicholas County car wreck.
Aaron Capps, 20, died when his truck ran off US 68 and hit a tree last Saturday.
Capps was a Nicholas County firefighter.
"The outpouring of support that the community has showed today is a testament to what kind of person Aaron was," says Nicholas County Fire Chief Doug French.
The community of Carlisle along with firefighters and law enforcement from around the area gathered together to honor Capps.
"Usually Aaron is the one showing up to help, so they all wanted to come show up today to give their respect and try to send him out in an honorable way," French says.
Capps died in a car accident on Highway 68 along with Whitney Morris, 21, and Kyla Haire, 20.
"It took the lives of three very liked and respected people and my heart goes out to all three of those families," French says.
Before the ceremony concluded, the solemn sound of bagpipes filled the afternoon air, the sound served as a remembrance to honor a man who served his county with dignity and respect until the day he died.
Whitney Morris and Kyla Haire were laid to rest earlier this week.
