NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The owners of Repurposed Soul in Nicholasville have reopened their market, six weeks after a devastating fire. The Kohlman family sells antique furniture and sends their profits to the needy in Haiti. They used to run their business out of their home, a house fire in early February put a stop to that.
"Everything was lost in that fire," said Steve Kohlman.
He says they turned to family for a place to live, and friends for a place to set up their business.
Their new location is down the street from their old one. It's inside and outside an empty home for sale. He says they'll sell from there until the house is sold. If the home sells, they'll move somewhere else. Kohlman says they are approaching their come back day by day.
"Here we are, six weeks removed from a house fire, and we really didn't touch suffering the way that we've seen in Haiti," said Kohlman. "That's why it's so important for us to get back and not let a house fire keep us away from continuing to raise money for what we believe in."
The family plans to repair their damaged home and move back in this fall.
