NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A Jessamine County woman wants your help making cancer patients like her dear friend Carlie, smile.
Carlie is an eight-year-old with stage four bone cancer. To take her mind off the chemotherapy and radiation she receives at UK Hospital, Carlie and her mother like to do crafts. Her mother's best friend, Tonya McClure, is making sure they never run out of them.
"Considering the fact of what she's going through and stuff we like to keep her mind occupied," explains family friend McClure, "she's very bubbly, goofy, always has a smile on her face. Nothing matters. It's like the sun is shining every day with her."
McClure is now asking others to donate art and craft supplies to Carlie and patients at UK.
"The donations, they'll go straight to UK Hospital. I want everybody to know that it's not just for Carlie. It is going to be markers, crayons, anything of that nature for them to color with, doodle, and then also to do projects with their parents," says McClure, "I want all the kids to have things, and I want all the kids to know that we support them, and we all love kids. Especially Carlie. Carlie is my inspiration and we want Carlie to get better and we want Carlie to know the world loves her."
