LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Nerlens Noel said on The Dan Patrick Radio Show this morning his rehab from knee surgery is ahead of schedule and he believes he's ready for the NBA draft.
Noel told Patrick, "I've been doing a lot of rehab and my physical therapist said I'm well ahead of schedule and I'm moving pretty good at the five week point." Noel went on to say he was taking it slowly and being careful with everything.
Official word came Monday that Noel will enter the NBA draft. He's projected by many to go as the No. 1 pick and he beleives he's ready for the next level. "I definitely feel so, I mean I just bring a great attitude and a good work ethic." Noel said a UK All American, who went on to a successful NBA career, has given him the best advice. "Probably Kenny "Sky" Walker has given me the best advice. Hes told me how physical and how much of a grind it is really in the NBA and how mentally you got to be every time out."
Noel said he did consider returning to UK for a second season and John Calipari told him he'd love to have him back but he believes hes made the best decision for himself.
Patrick asked Noel if he had the choice straight out of high school of going directly into the NBA or spending two years at Kentucky, Noel said. "Oh shoot, I'd probably have to say two years at Kentucky, maybe."
