Obama to address 'fiscal cliff'

WASHINGTON (AP) - Many Democrats are hoping President Barack Obama will take a hard line today when he talks to Congress about the so-called fiscal cliff - the economy-crippling tax increases and automatic spending cuts due to hit in January if the House and the Senate don't act.

Republicans and Democrats have been at an impasse because the GOP refuses to agree to higher tax rates for upper-income earners.
