October is Kentucky Archives Month

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Historians, genealogists and others interested in researching the past will find plenty to do in Kentucky this October.

The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives has designated October as Kentucky Archives Month, in conjunction with American Archives Month.

A news release says there are nearly 300 archival and manuscript repositories in Kentucky. Holdings include personal papers, photographs, Bibles, diaries, letters and records like marriage certificates and wills.

There are special exhibits, speakers, open houses and other programs planned statewide.
