LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington Police officer is recovering after being injured in an overnight chase.

The officer injured his hand in a scuffle that ended a brief foot chase.

Police said the chase started after a routine traffic stop on Tates Creek Road. The driver of the vehicle took off and officers caught up with the vehicle near Malibu Drive.

Police boxed in the car, then the driver took off running.

After the short foot chase, officers tackled 33-year-old Jake Anders. It was during the scuffle that the officer injured his hand. The officer was treated for the injury and will recover.

Anders along with another person were taken into custody. Anders is charged with DUI, fleeing and evading, and had a previous warrant.
