Officer seriously injured in crash

ARGILLITE, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky police officer is recovering from serious injuries after being hit by a car.

The crash happened late Thursday night on Kentucky 207 in the Argillite community of Greenup County.

State police say Deputy Matthew Smith was on the scene of a separate injury crash when a car slammed into him.

Officials say the Smith suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The other driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
