Officials in Wolfe County looking for escapee

WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Officials in Wolfe County are looking for a man they say escaped the judicial building on Wednesday.

Kentucky State Police, Wolfe County Sheriff's Department, Mt. Sterling Police and Mt. Sterling K-9 units looked for John Trent all afternoon around the judicial building and the wooded area nearby, including behind the courthouse and the Wolfe County Senior Citizens building.

KSP says Trent has several outstanding warrants and was at the judicial building when a court security officer noticed him and tried to take him into custody. He got away from that officer and ran down the street to the wooded area behind the courthouse and the senior citizens center.

A security officer received minor injuries during the chase, and was taken to a medical clinic to be checked out.

We're told those outstanding warrants were for DUI 2nd offense, driving on a DUI suspended license, driving with an open container, wanton endangerment, reckless driving, fleeing and evading, improper passing, and speeding.

If anyone sees Trent, or know where he is, call the sheriff's department at 606-668-3569 or Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555. Trent is 22 years old, described as a white male, 5'3", 160 pounds with brown hair.
