Officials think string of fires connected

EUBANK, Ky. (AP) - A fire chief in a small south-central Kentucky town has formed a citizen's watch effort after a string of suspicious fires.

Eubank Fire Chief Norman Rutheford told WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/TGavYX) that firefighters have been called out to two fires this week at a vacant building. And that comes on the heels of about a dozen other suspicious blazes throughout the small community.

Rutheford said the pattern of blazes is similar to a string of fires the community suffered last winter.

Arson investigators are studying the recent blazes for clues, but say they aren't yet sure whether they are connected to the series of fires last year.

In the meantime, residents are keeping watch for any suspicious activity.
