Ohio man pleads guilty in 5-year-old's death

CLEVELAND (AP) - A judge in Cleveland will decide whether to accept a guilty plea from a man accused of killing his girlfriend's 5-year-old son.

Julian Whitaker entered the plea Friday as part of a deal that could allow him to avoid a death sentence.

Authorities tell The Plain Dealer newspaper (http://bit.ly/Vdj2xB) in Cleveland that Whitaker was accused of slashing the young boy's throat with a steak knife.

They say that Whitaker was babysitting the boy and his older sister at a home he shared with the boy's mother.
